Microchanneling in Portland
The Next Evolution of Microneedling

Visible results, Minimal Downtime, Maximum Confidence

How Microchanneling
improves your skin

Pura Skincare in Happy Valley offers advanced microchanneling treatments for clients throughout the Portland area. Microchanneling is an advanced skin rejuvenation treatment that stimulates your skin’s natural collagen production to improve firmness, tone, and overall texture. Often considered the next evolution of traditional microneedling, this precise treatment creates controlled micro-channels in the skin that activate the body’s natural healing response.

The result is smoother, firmer skin with minimal downtime. Microchanneling can help improve the appearance of acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines, stretch marks, and other textural irregularities while promoting healthier, more radiant skin over time.

Microchanneling is an advanced form of microneedling that stimulates your skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin to improve texture, tone, and overall skin health. Using industry-leading ProCell technology, the device gently creates controlled micro-channels in the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response.

What to Expect During Your Microchanneling Treatment

During treatment, a professional-grade growth factor serum is applied to enhance skin repair and regeneration. Afterward, soothing medical-grade products are used to calm and protect the skin. Because the microchannels close quickly, downtime is minimal and most clients return to normal activities shortly after.

For best results, we recommend a series of 4–6 treatments spaced about four weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance sessions to maintain your glow.

FAQs

What skin concerns does Microchanneling treat?

Microchanneling is highly effective for treating a wide range of concerns, including:
+ Acne scars and surgical scars
+ Fine lines and early signs of aging
+ Enlarged pores
+ Stretch marks
+ Hyperpigmentation
+ Uneven skin tone and texture

How does microchanneling differ from traditional microneedling?

While both treatments stimulate collagen production, microchanneling is a more advanced and safe approach. Traditional microneedling devices use needles that move in a rolling or dragging motion, which can tug on the skin, causing irritation and uneven results. Procell microchanneling, on the other hand, uses a linear stamping technique that creates precise, uniform microchannels with minimal trauma to the skin. This results in faster healing, less discomfort, and more consistent outcomes.

Does microchanneling hurt?

Most guests describe the sensation as tolerable. For longer needle depths, a topical numbing cream is applied before treatment to ensure comfort throughout the procedure. You will feel a light vibration and a slight scratching sensation as the device passes over the skin, but there should be no significant pain. After treatment, the skin may appear flushed or feel tight for a few hours, similar to a mild sunburn, which typically subsides within the same day.

How long does a treatment take?

A typical microchanneling session takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated and whether numbing cream is required.

Is there any downtime?

One of the best features of microchanneling is its minimal downtime! You may experience mild redness or warmth similar to a sunburn for a few hours. You can resume almost all regular activities the day following your treatment, although we recommend avoiding avoid heat-inducing activities such as intense exercise, hot showers, saunas, and spicy foods for 24-48 hours post treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

For optimal results, we recommend an initial series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced about 3 to 4 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments once or twice per year help prolong your results and by stimulating continuous collagen production in the skin.

Can I wear makeup after my treatment?

We recommend avoiding makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment to allow the channels to fully close and prevent irritation. Tinted sunscreen can be applied the day after treatment (as long as the skin is intact) and can aid in protecting the skin from the sun while minimizing the appearance of redness.

Is there anything I should avoid before my Microchanneling treatment?

To ensure the treatment is safe and effective, avoid unprotected sun exposure at least 24 before treatment. Discontinue the use of retinoids, exfoliants, and certain topical products 7 days before your session. To prevent bruising, avoid blood-thinning agent for 7 days prior to treatment. Lastly, avoid waxing the treatment area for 5-7 days ahead of your microchanneling session.

What should I do after my Microchanneling treatment?

To maximize your results and protect your skin, we recommend the following aftercare:

+ For the first 24-48 hours, avoid heat-inducing activities such as intense exercise, hot showers, saunas, and spicy foods.
+ Starting the day after your treatment, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily and avoid direct sun exposure, as your skin will be more sensitive to the sun.
+ For 5-7 days post treatment, avoid using exfoliating skincare products such as retinol, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), or physical exfoliants. Only apply gentle skincare products.

Your provider will discuss the full list of recommended aftercare steps and products during your consultation.

When will I see results?

Improvements are visible within 14 to 30 days after their first session, with continued improvement over time. Full results are typically seen after completing the recommended treatment series of 4 to 6 sessions.

Are there contraindications for Microchanneling?

Although Microchanneling is safe for most guests, it is not recommended for those who:

+ Are pregnant or breastfeeding.
+ Have recently used Accutane or other Vitamin-A prescription medications.
+ Are on anticoagulants or have a compromised immune system.
+ Have active Herpes Simplex in the treatment area.
+ Have an active inflammatory skin condition such as eczema or psoriasis.

Your provider will review your health history and skin type during a consultation to ensure microchanneling is safe and appropriate for you.
